Minutes

Old Business:

Team Bites-

  • It was successful, we got our “faces seen”, passed out 150 bags of bites. Suggestion made to hold evening meetings for those who work during the day. We will be alternating meeting times between Monday mornings and Tuesday early evenings.

  • Want to see how many people traveled to the website to see if they clicked after we passed out the bites-going to look into to see if we can track that data, but currently probably not enough information to do it.

  • Ms. Luzzi wants to keep it as an action item to add to the smore newsletter sent at the end of the week.

Banking-

  • Nicole is added onto the bank account. Need to finalize bank cards etc..

New Business:

1st Order Of Business (OOB): Giving December to be added as an action item so people can donate to the school. Goal $10,000. The donation is to cover new water fountains, teacher supplies, and technology. Trying to find matching grant businesses, and reaching out to employers who do matching donations.

2nd OOB: Homeroom wars: Original idea of homeroom wars broken down into Penny Wars (which school has previous experience) and March Madness.
An aside: Quickly discussed double good fundraiser, but students do all the work and only get to keep half of the profit.

Penny wars:

  • Start date February 20th to March 14th announce winners on March 15th

  • Possible prizes for students; pizza party, pj day/free day, field trips-if bus needed around $500-600, walking trips to think about McDonalds, Open books, the park

  • Possibly banding the kids into k-2, 3-5, 6-8

  • Doing something cute with large old water jugs, and rainbows for a St. Patrick theme

MarchMadness for the school + Final Four Party for the Adults:

Have all kids fill out a bracket to see who will win. No money involved.

  • Main objective is to get kids excited and talking/thinking about colleges.

  • Secondary objective is to get kids excited so they talk to their parents who will hopefully get excited to attend the Final four party.

  • An award/prize ideas for winner: Jersey, pizza party,

Have students keep a weekly tally/record the race and use the broadcasting students to keep track of who is winning, losing so we can make a compilation video to show at the final four party for the adults.

Final Four Party: April 6th

  • Try to get Twisted Cantina (Pauline will contact), make sure we have/can get tv for the event (Simone’s not big enough)

  • Recruitment tools to help illuminate the glory of our school: Play kids production video of the madness race, possibly go live on facebook

  • Have Ms.Luzzi, Mr. Alvarez bartend so their tips go to school, split the pot raffle, square?, other quick/fun money fundraising ideas

3rd OOB: Partner Showcase

April 10th 9am-11am Morning of parent teacher conferences

  • Getting kids involved like on stem night.

  • Start mailing out holiday cards about the event now for April

  • Our partners donate around/upwards of $50,000, we will be asking them on this day to commit to continue to donate for the upcoming school year so we can maintain awesome programs of the school

  • Get parents involved by handing out flyers informing them that we still need to raise additionally $50,000 to maintain program funding

4th OOB: Our AMAZING STAFF
